Update on Possible Rail Strike by the TCRC Union
With the possibility of a rail strike by the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) union, expected to begin on August 22, 2024, and affecting both Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City Limited (CPKC) operations, the industry is bracing for significant congestion across Canadian and American ports and rail terminals, including a shortage of railcars and chassis availability. Any backups could result in longer than expected storage times at ports and inland rail terminals thus incurring demurrage and detention fees on shipments.
Should a strike position be taken, the situation will affect all within the shipping industry and is beyond the control of Farrow. While all reasonable efforts will be made by Farrow to mitigate when possible, Farrow will not accept liability for storage and demurrage charges as a result of any strike activity.
