Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Strike
The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) began a nationwide strike on April 19th involving more than 155,000 members of Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) working for the Treasury Board and the Canada Revenue Agency.
PSAC says Canadians can expect to see slowdowns or a complete shutdown of services nationwide, including:
- A complete halt of the tax season
- Disruptions to employment insurance, immigration, and passport applications
- Interruptions to supply chains and international trade at ports
- Slowdowns at the border
In the event that Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) operations are impacted by this labour action, there could be a delay of cargo clearances at ports and border crossings. The length of any such delays will depend both on the nature of the transaction, and whether the goods may require inspection, thus disruptions to supply chains and to international trade are possible.
Farrow recommends its customers notify their carriers and other supply chain parties of this information (particularly those who are international) so that they are aware of these circumstances and can accommodate accordingly.
