Notice of extension of investigation: Certain concrete reinforcing bar 5 (RB5 2024 IN)

The Canada Border Services Agency has today extended the preliminary phase of the investigation respecting the alleged injurious dumping of certain concrete reinforcing bar originating in or exported from Bulgaria, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.

The Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) provides that, under normal circumstances, the preliminary stage of the investigation shall be completed within 90 days of the date of initiation. However, due to the difficulties in obtaining satisfactory evidence and the complexity and novelty of issues presented in the investigation, the period has been extended to 135 days, pursuant to subsection 39(1) of SIMA.

Consequently, the decision to issue a preliminary determination or to terminate the investigation with respect to some or all of the goods will be made on or before September 13, 2024. A revised investigation schedule is now available.
