Launch of public consultations on the Government of Canada’s administration of the steel tariff-rate quotas

Further to the Minister of Finance’sΒ announcement made on June 3, 2026, to extend the tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) for certain steel products listed in Item 82 of theΒ Import Control List, the Government of Canada has launched public consultations to offer stakeholders with the opportunity to submit views on the administration of the TRQs. The input received will help inform potential changes that could be made to the administration of the TRQs, including the possibility of an allocations-based approach for certain product classes.

How to participate

Interested parties are encouraged to review theΒ background pageΒ and provide their input directly through the online questionnaire:Β Questionnaire: Public consultations on the Government of Canada’s administration of the tariff-rate quotas for certain steel goods
