Tribunal Terminates Expiry Review—Steel Plate from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Romania
Ottawa, Ontario, March 20, 2025—The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today terminated the expiry review of its order made on October 31, 2019, in expiry review RR-2018-007, concerning the dumping of hot-rolled carbon steel plate and high-strength low-alloy steel plate from the Republic of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Romania.
On March 6, 2025, the Canada Border Services Agency determined that the expiry of the order in respect of the goods was unlikely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping. As a result, the Tribunal will not determine whether the expiry of the order in respect of the goods is likely to result in injury or retardation and will make an order rescinding the previous order.
The Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
