What is eManifest?
eManifest is a term used to describe the advance, electronic conveyance of freight information to customs officials prior to a shipment arriving at a border. eManifest (also known as pre-arrival notification) expedites the customs clearance process by allowing pertinent information about shipments to be assessed and approved by customs officials in advance of any shipment’s physical arrival.
Mandatory Highway eManifest Compliance. Are you Ready?
November 1, 2012 marks the start of the six-month “Informed Compliance” stage of the ACI eManifest initiative by the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA). This is the highway portion of ACI eManifest, which follows the air and sea programs already in place. Until May 2013, carriers will not be denied entry or face penalties for eManifest non-compliance. However to avoid clearance delays and potential penalties once this interim period is over, highway carriers must be eManifest ready.
