February 24th: Ukraine Shuts Down Shipping And Ports

Ukraine’s military has suspended operations at its ports after Russian forces invaded the country by land and sea, an adviser to the president’s chief of staff said on Thursday, as concerns grew about the flow of supplies from one of the world’s top exporters of grains and oilseeds.

March 10th: UPDATE: CARM Release 2 Delayed

The CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) project is a multi-year initiative that will modernize how the CBSA assesses imported goods and manages revenue. Once fully implemented, CARM will streamline and automate business processes and offer online self-service tools to help importers and exporters do business in Canada. To date, the project has successfully launched its first two releases in January (Release 0) and May (Release 1) of 2021. The third release, Release 2, is the largest and most complex release. At this time, the CBSA has shared they do not intend to proceed with the implementation of CARM Release 2 any time before January 2023.

December 2nd: US Senate passes rail contract resolution

The US Senate passed legislation on December 1, binding railways and unions to the contract negotiated earlier this year. Senators passed the resolution by a margin of 80 to 15. It now heads to president Joe Biden’s desk for a signature.
