Countermeasures to U.S. tariffs – Certain aluminum products from Canada

Home News Countermeasures to U.S. tariffs – Certain aluminum products from Canada

Farrow reminds clients that countermeasure tariffs could be applied as soon as September 21, 2020 on certain U.S. made products.  This is in response to the U.S. decision to apply a 10% tariff on Canadian aluminum.

On August 6, 2020, the United States (U.S.) announced the imposition of tariffs of 10 per cent on imports of certain aluminum products from Canada.  The product list subject to these countermeasures: Notice of intent to impose countermeasures action against the United States in response to tariffs on Canadian aluminum products will take effect on September 16, 2020.

These countermeasures will remain in place until the U.S. eliminates its tariffs against Canada. The countermeasures will not apply to U.S. goods that are in transit to Canada on the day on which these countermeasures come into force.

Please contact your Client Partner Representative for a list of your products that may be affected.   If you have inquiries regarding your imports you can reach out to compliance.consulting@farrow.com.
